Raspberry Pi gets its own sound card

The crappy sound on the Raspberry Pi is well known and limiting. This little 24-bit / 192KHz digital/analogue soundcard should open up some exciting oportunities for about £20.

My friend James’ submission to Hans Zimmer’s competition is a goodie. If you agree I’m sure he’d appreciate your vote!

I was lucky enough to help run the live sound/record The Big Comedy Conference 2013 shown in this promo. Was a good day watching newbie comedians schmooze and listen to the pros give their tips and advice.

The track used in the promo is from my 2011 album. You can get the tune here for free if you like it along with the rest of my released music.

I haven’t released anything for a while, just been stockpiling 90% finished tunes for sometime so I thought it was about time I shared something. This is the latest track I’ve been working on this weekend, Bubble Spaces.

Edit: Tumblr didn’t like the audio stream on that file so I’m swapping to a YouTube link. Tumblr’s being a shit with swapping the video so you can use that link if it’s not working for you.

This is incredible.

Tom Waits (on Jim Wilson): “Wilson, he’s always playing with time. I heard a recording recently of crickets slowed way down. It sounds like a choir, it sounds like angel music. Something sparkling, celestial with full harmony and bass parts - you wouldn’t believe it. It’s like a sweeping chorus of heaven, and it’s just slowed down, they didn’t manipulate the tape at all. So I think when Wilson slows people down, it gives you a chance to watch them moving through space. And there’s something to be said for slowing down the world.”
